Major Diseases and Prevention Measures of Largemouth Bass (Part 3)
Abstract:The symptoms of LMBV infection vary greatly among different size classes of largemouth bass. For small fry (3-5 cm per fish), infected fish commonly show a red spot in the central abdomen. For medium-sized fry (6-10 cm per fish), the infection mainly manifests as numerous spot-like ulcers on the body surface, or redness and swelling of the head and gill cheeks, with occasional white spots appearing on the liver (different from the nodules caused by Nocardia infection, this white spot appears only on the liver and feels smooth to the touch). For intermediate-sized fish (50-200 g per fish), the main symptom is large-area deep ulcers on the body surface (Figure 5), but due to possible co-infections with other pathogens, various complex symptoms may appear.
