China is the world's largest producer of tilapia. In 2023, the production of tilapia reached 1.8168 million tons, with a breeding area of about 1800,000 mu, and processing and exports amounted to approximately 560,000 tons. Guangxi, located in the subtropical region, has a warm climate and abundant water resources, making it very suitable for tilapia farming. Guangxi is also one of China's main tilapia producing areas. In 2023, the total production of tilapia in the entire region was 261,500 tons, accounting for 14.4% of the national output, with a breeding area of about 350,000 mu, and processing and exports of approximately 80,000 tons. In addition, the processing and export volume of tilapia in Guangxi accounts for 20%-25% of the direct exports of aquatic products in the country, mainly sold to the European and American markets and Southeast Asia.
