Improvement and Application of the Xiaopeng Shrimp Farming Model from Rudong, Jiangsu in the Shanghai Area
Abstract:The shrimp farming model of the small greenhouse in Rudong, Jiangsu has achieved success through years of exploration, and has now formed a considerable scale locally, gradually being promoted throughout the Yangtze River Delta region. Its characteristics are: each greenhouse covers 0.8 to 1 mu (approx. 0.53 to 0.67 hectares), with a water depth of 0.8 to 1 meter, stocking 80,000 to 100,000 seedlings, yielding 400 to 500 kilograms per batch, and raising two batches per year, in spring and autumn. Its advantages include: smaller pond area, easier temperature control and management; the small greenhouse facilities are less affected by external climate conditions, reducing disease occurrence caused by stress reactions in Litopenaeus vannamei; two batches raised in the morning and evening for off-season sales, with prices significantly higher than those of open-air pond shrimp.
