Trial of Using Goldfish to Eliminate Water Fleas in Leech Breeding Boxes
Abstract：Aquaculture of leeches has emerged as a new project in Rugao City, Jiangsu Province. Nearly 100 family farms and large-scale operators are engaged in leech farming, with facility breeding exceeding 1 million square meters. There are more than 150 ornamental fish farms in Rugao City, with a long history of fish farming. During the breeding process, multiple screenings are conducted, and many substandard goldfish fry (defined as fish fry that are screened out during the breeding and farming process of goldfish due to dull color, asymmetrical body shape, or unsightly tails) are discarded, with 90% of the fry being discarded.
