Practices and Exploration of the Transformation and Improvement of Fish Ponds in Foshan City
Abstract：In 2023, the aquaculture area in Foshan City reached 530,000 mu, with a freshwater aquaculture output of about 800,000 tons and a total output value of the fishery economy of about 19.5 billion yuan. Aquaculture has become an important way for farmers in Foshan to increase their income. Since 2022, Foshan City has launched a five-year action plan for the transformation and improvement of fish ponds. It has built various forms of aquaculture models, including 'algae-bacteria integration', 'three pools and two dams', 'coastal integration', and 'zero-emission ecological culture' in ponds. A total of 205,700 mu of fish ponds have been transformed and improved, among which 156,400 mu of large-scale integrated fish ponds over 300 mu have been renovated. Ecological and healthy aquaculture has shown initial results. The following are specific work experiences summarized.
