High Yield and Efficiency in Pond Culture of Fish Species with Shrimp
Abstract：The aquatic farm in Shiyan Town, Dongtai City has a history of more than 50 years of artificial breeding and farming of the four major carp species. Most fishermen traditionally take breeding fish fry and fingerlings as their main source of income, providing high-quality freshwater fish fry and fingerlings to surrounding areas. However, the breeding species and models are relatively single, leading to low breeding efficiency. Since 2022, the author has jointly explored a breeding model that includes breeding fish fry, raising fish fingerlings, and co-cultivating Pacific white shrimp and Macrobrachium rosenbergii in a 4-mu pond at the farm of Ji Wenxue. This model has achieved significant economic benefits. In 2023, the total output value reached 77,450 yuan, with an average benefit of 12,720 yuan per mu, and it has driven the development of 1,600 mu of surrounding aquaculture areas.
