Pond Fish-Rice Co-cultivation Technology Experiment
Abstract:The pond fish-rice co-cultivation technology involves using floating beds on the pond surface to plant rice from April to August and then planting ryegrass from September to the following March, achieving a technical system that uses one floating bed throughout the year. This technology can achieve the goal of purifying water quality and restoring eutrophication in water bodies throughout the year. Previously, some floating beds (such as polystyrene board floating beds) had defects such as being prone to damage, having a short service life, high depreciation costs, and requiring more labor for planting, which made the fish-rice co-cultivation technology difficult to promote. In recent years, the Chongqing Comprehensive Test Station of the National Major Freshwater Fish Industry Technology System has collaborated with expert teams from the Chongqing Ecological Fishery Industry Technology System to conduct technical trials. They have used PE material for ecological floating beds and successfully developed a simplified planting method. The lifespan of the floating beds has been significantly extended, and the planting costs have been greatly reduced (by more than 40%). Demonstration bases have been established in Wanzhou, Dazu, Changshou, and Bishan areas.
