Diagnosis and Prevention of Important Parasitic Diseases in Large Freshwater Fish (Part 2)
Abstract:8. Dactylogyrus Disease
(1) Main Symptoms. Dactylogyrus belongs to the class Monogenea of the phylum Platyhelminthes, order Dactylogyridea. The infected fish show darkened body color, slow movement, reduced appetite, and weakness; there is an increase in mucus on the gill filaments, and the gill plates appear grayish-white, causing breathing difficulties. Dactylogyrus generally measures 0.1–2 mm, and moves like a leech, with its head divided into four lobes. The anterior part of the body has four black eye spots, and the posterior end has a swollen, disc-shaped attachment organ containing one pair of central hooks, a connecting bar, and seven pairs of marginal hooks.
