Application of the I-PARIHS Framework Nursing Plan in Reducing Death Fear and Improving Treatment Adherence in Elderly Patients with Multiple Myeloma Undergoing Chemotherapy
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of the I-PARIHS framework in improving death fear and treatment adherence in elderly patients with multiple myeloma undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: A total of 150 elderly patients with multiple myeloma treated at the Affiliated Hospital of Yangzhou University from December 2023 to September 2024 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into a control group and an observation group using a random number table method, with 75 cases in each group. The control group received routine nursing care, while the observation group received nursing intervention based on the I-PARIHS framework. The intervention period was 3 months, and changes in death fear, attitude toward death, and treatment adherence were observed before and after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, the death fear level of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). The scores for natural acceptance and approach acceptance in the attitude toward death were higher in the observation group than in the control group (P < 0.05), while the scores for death fear, escape acceptance, and death avoidance were lower in the observation group (P < 0.05). The treatment adherence of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Nursing interventions based on the I-PARIHS framework improved death fear, attitude toward death, and treatment adherence in elderly patients with multiple myeloma undergoing chemotherapy.
