Effect of a Four-Step Voice Therapy Training on Voice Function and Oral Aerodynamic Parameters in Patients with Voice Disorders After Vocal Nodule Surgery
Abstract:Objective: To study the effect of a four-step voice therapy training on voice function and oral aerodynamic parameters in patients with voice disorders after vocal nodule surgery. Methods: A total of 109 patients with voice disorders after vocal nodule surgery who were admitted to the hospital from January 2022 to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group (54 cases) and an observation group (55 cases) using a random number table method. The control group received conventional voice training, while the observation group received a four-step voice therapy training. The voice handicap index [Voice Handicap Index (VHI) score], voice acoustics parameters [jitter, shimmer levels, and voice handicap severity index (DSI)], and oral aerodynamic parameters [glottic efficiency, glottic resistance, oral pressure, and airflow rate] were compared between the two groups. Results: After intervention, the scores of the three dimensions of the VHI scale in the observation group were all lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). After intervention, the jitter and shimmer levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the DSI was higher (P < 0.05). After intervention, the glottic efficiency and glottic resistance in the observation group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.05), while the oral pressure and airflow rate were lower (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The four-step voice therapy training can effectively reduce the voice handicap index in patients with voice disorders after vocal nodule surgery, improve oral aerodynamic parameters, and promote the recovery of voice condition.
