Review Indicators for Assessment and Rehabilitation of Swallowing Disorders in Patients with Oral Cancer: Development and Analysis of Barriers
Abstract:Objective: To develop review indicators for evidence-based practice in the assessment and rehabilitation of swallowing disorders in patients with oral cancer, analyze barriers and facilitators, and formulate strategies for change. Methods: Guided by the Knowledge-to-Action (KTA) framework, an evidence-based question was identified, literature was searched, evidence was selected, review indicators were developed, barriers and facilitators were analyzed, and strategies for change were formulated. Results: A total of 17 pieces of best evidence were included, and 12 review indicators were developed. The main barriers included incomplete standard procedures at the organizational management level, single forms of health education, insufficient attention from medical staff, differences in evidence-based practice capabilities, varying levels of patient education, and poor compliance. Strategies for change mainly included improving relevant processes and systems, strengthening specialized training, enriching health education methods, and using behavior change techniques. Conclusion: The review indicators developed based on best evidence and professional judgment are scientific, effective, feasible, appropriate, and measurable. The strategies for change formulated after analyzing barriers and facilitators can promote the clinical practice of assessment and rehabilitation of swallowing disorders in patients with oral cancer.
