Research on the Impact of Employment Counseling Based on Maslow's Theory on the Adversity Quotient and Self-Efficacy of Intern Nurses
Abstract:Objective: To provide employment counseling for intern nurses based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, aiming to improve their adversity quotient and self-efficacy. Methods: A total of 200 nursing students who were interning in the Department of Orthopedics II at a tertiary A hospital in Yunnan Province from January to December 2024 were selected using cluster sampling. Four offline training sessions were conducted based on Maslow's theory, and the participants were surveyed before and after the training using the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Adversity Quotient Scale. Results: After the intervention based on Maslow's theory, there were statistically significant differences in the four dimensions of adversity quotient (control, attribution, extension, and tolerance) and self-efficacy scores (all P < 0.05). Conclusion: Clinical training starting from physiological needs to self-actualization has significant implications for employment guidance of intern nurses.
