Application of Music Therapy Combined with Psychodynamic Therapy in Adolescents with Schizophrenia
Abstract:Objective: To explore the intervention effect of music therapy combined with psychodynamic therapy on adolescents with schizophrenia. Methods: A total of 160 adolescents with schizophrenia treated at Jiangxi Provincial Mental Hospital from November 2023 to October 2024 were selected as the study subjects. They were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group using a random number table method, with 80 cases in each group. The control group received routine treatment and nursing care, while the observation group received music therapy combined with psychodynamic therapy on top of the control group's treatment, for a total of 12 weeks of intervention. The symptom improvement status [Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS)], social function recovery level [Social Disability Screening Schedule (SDSS)], and quality of life [General Quality of Life Inventory (GQOLI-74)] were compared between the two groups before and after the 12-week intervention. Results: After the 12-week intervention, the PANSS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group, while the SDSS and GQOLI-74 scores were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The combined application of music therapy and psychodynamic therapy can improve symptoms in adolescents with schizophrenia, promote the recovery of social functions, and effectively enhance their quality of life.
