Effect of Traditional Chinese Medicine Nursing Based on the IKAP Model on Postoperative Rehabilitation in Patients with Total Knee Arthroplasty
Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of traditional Chinese medicine nursing based on the Information-Knowledge-Belief-Action (IKAP) model on the rehabilitation of patients after total knee arthroplasty. Methods: A total of 60 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty between January 2024 and January 2025 were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into a control group (n=30, routine nursing) and an observation group (n=30, TCM nursing based on the IKAP model). The knee joint range of motion, postoperative swelling degree, inflammatory levels, quality of life, and nursing satisfaction were compared between the two groups. Results: The difference in patellar circumference during weeks 2–8 and weeks 2–4 after surgery was greater in the observation group than in the control group (P<0.05). At 8 weeks post-surgery, the levels of interleukin-1β (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in both groups decreased, and the observation group had lower levels than the control group (P<0.05). The knee joint range of motion in the observation group was higher than that in the control group, and the quality of life score and nursing satisfaction score were also higher in the observation group (P<0.05). Conclusion: TCM nursing based on the IKAP model can improve the knee joint range of motion, reduce postoperative inflammation and swelling, and enhance the quality of life and nursing satisfaction of patients after total knee arthroplasty.
