Construction of the PICC Insertion Process Guided by Electromagnetic Navigation Localization
Abstract:Objective: To construct a PICC insertion process guided by electromagnetic navigation localization, aiming to enhance the standardization of the procedure and provide guidance for clinical practice. Methods: A preliminary PICC insertion process was developed through literature review and expert group discussions. A convenience sampling method was used to select 21 experts from 19 tertiary hospitals in 8 provinces/municipalities for two rounds of Delphi expert consultation. The final version of the insertion process was revised based on the consultation results. The experts' enthusiasm, authority, and consensus were evaluated through effective questionnaire recovery rate, expert authority coefficient, Kendall's coefficient of concordance, and coefficient of variation. Results: Two rounds of expert consultation were conducted, with an effective questionnaire recovery rate of 100.00% in both rounds. The expert authority coefficients were 0.907 and 0.936, respectively. Kendall's coefficient of concordance was 0.144 and 0.118 (P < 0.05), and the coefficient of variation ranged from 0.000 to 0.153 and 0.000 to 0.209, respectively. In the second round, the importance scores of each operational step ranged from 4.43 to 5.00 points. Finally, a PICC insertion process consisting of 3 first-level operations, 9 second-level operations, and 31 third-level operations was formed. Conclusion: Electromagnetic navigation localization effectively promoted the accuracy of catheter positioning technology. This PICC insertion process is reliable and has important guiding significance for standardizing the insertion operation.
