Application of Ultrasound Oblique-Plane Guidance Technique in the Puncture and Catheterization of Medium-Length Venous Catheters
Abstract:Objective: To explore the safety and effectiveness of the ultrasound oblique-plane guidance technique in the puncture and catheterization of medium-length venous catheters, providing new ideas for future catheterization work. Methods: A randomized controlled method was used to select 354 patients who underwent medium-length venous catheter insertion using ultrasound guidance combined with the modified Seldinger technique at a tertiary A hospital in Jiangsu Province in 2023. The study subjects were randomly divided into three groups (A, B, and C) using the alphabetical grouping method. Group A used the ultrasound short-axis plane guidance technique for medium-length venous catheter puncture, Group B used the ultrasound long-axis plane guidance technique, and Group C used the ultrasound oblique-plane guidance technique. The success rate of puncture, incidence of complications, and catheterization time were recorded for all three groups. Results: The one-time puncture success rate in Group C was 90.7%, higher than that of Group A (80.5%) and Group B (74.6%), with statistically significant differences among the three groups (P=0.005). The average puncture time in Group C was 27 seconds, compared to 29 seconds in Group A and 32 seconds in Group B, with statistically significant differences among the three groups (P=0.001). There were statistically significant differences in the incidence of complications among the three groups (P=0.025), particularly in the incidence of puncture needle piercing the opposite vessel wall (P=0.005). However, there were no statistically significant differences in hematoma, arterial or nerve injury. Conclusion: The ultrasound oblique-plane guidance technique shows better results in the puncture and catheterization of medium-length venous catheters, improving the success rate of catheterization and reducing complications.
