Application Effect of Self-made Sterilizable Holmium Laser Fiber Holder in Ureteroscopic Holmium Laser Lithotripsy

Abstract：Objective: To explore the application of a self-made sterilizable holmium laser fiber holder in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy. Methods: A total of 40 patients who underwent ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy between January 2023 and December 2024 were selected and randomly divided into a control group (20 cases) and an observation group (20 cases). The observation group used the self-made sterilizable holmium laser fiber holder, while the control group used the traditional method for fixing the holmium laser fiber. The time required to organize the holmium laser fiber during surgery, the number of cases with fiber contamination and damage, and the satisfaction of the doctors in using the device were compared between the two groups. Results: The time required to organize the holmium laser fiber during surgery in the observation group was (4.27±1.56) min, and the operation time was (39.64±6.41) min, which were shorter than those in the control group (7.53±1.75) min and (46.23±7.86) min, respectively. The observation group had fewer cases of fiber contamination and damage. The fiber consumption in the observation group was (0.017±0.006) cm/cm², which was lower than that in the control group (0.024±0.003) cm/cm². The lithotripsy efficiency in the observation group was (3.27±0.75) cm²/min, which was higher than that in the control group (2.25±0.42) cm²/min. The satisfaction of the doctors in the observation group was 100.00%, which was higher than that in the control group (70.00%) (P<0.05). Conclusion: Using a self-made sterilizable holmium laser fiber holder in ureteroscopic holmium laser lithotripsy can shorten the time required to organize the holmium laser fiber and the operation time, reduce the number of cases with fiber contamination and damage, and fiber consumption, and improve the lithotripsy efficiency and doctor satisfaction.
