A Scoping Review of the Application of Virtual Reality Technology in Patients with Diabetes
Abstract:Objective: To conduct a scoping review of the application of virtual reality technology in patients with diabetes, providing references for similar research or clinical applications of related technologies. Methods: According to the scoping review methodology, literature was retrieved from databases including Embase, PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, CBM, Wanfang, and VIP, with the search period ranging from the establishment of the database to February 13, 2024. The included literature was organized and analyzed. Results: A total of 24 articles were included, involving virtual reality devices such as non-immersive, immersive, and distributed types. The intervention duration was mostly 4 weeks or 12 weeks, with outcome indicators mainly including physiological indicators, balance ability, fall risk, diabetes self-management, and related knowledge. Conclusion: Virtual reality technology has a broad application population in patients with diabetes and shows good prospects for application. In the future, multidimensional virtual reality technology should be developed for different diabetic populations.
