A Scoping Review of the Scope of Medication Safety Education in Nursing
Abstract:Objective: To conduct a scoping review of medication safety education for nursing students and analyze the current research status in this field. Methods: Computerized retrieval was performed on databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, Embase, China Biological Medicine Database, CNKI, Wanfang Database, and VIP Database, to screen and analyze literature from the establishment of the database up to December 6, 2023. Results: After deduplication, 5,794 articles were obtained, and finally 17 articles (2007-2022) were included. Teaching methods include scenario simulation, interactive lectures, gamified teaching, etc.; assessment tools and methods are diverse, comprehensively evaluating the abilities of nursing students from three aspects: students, teachers, and patients, as well as including evaluation indicators such as course satisfaction and exam scores. Conclusion: Medication safety education is widely applied in nursing education both domestically and internationally, but lacks a theoretical foundation or guidance for teaching. Although the scope of ability assessment is broad, the scientific nature of the assessment tools is insufficient.
