Research Progress on the Integrated Treatment of Bronchiectasis with Airway Mucus Hypersecretion by Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine
Abstract:This paper reviews the recent progress in the treatment of bronchiectasis with airway mucus hypersecretion from the aspects of the overview of bronchiectasis, Western medicine treatment, traditional Chinese medicine treatment, and integrated treatment. It points out that the increase and difficulty in expectoration of sputum in the airway of patients with bronchiectasis are not only important risk factors for worsening infection but also issues that need to be addressed in treatment. Although Western medicine promotes sputum clearance through airway humidification, this method does not fundamentally reduce airway mucus secretion. At the same time, traditional Chinese medicine has shown significant effects in alleviating airway mucus hypersecretion through drug combinations and syndrome differentiation. The aim is to provide a more comprehensive perspective for the comprehensive management of bronchiectasis, especially emphasizing the potential of traditional Chinese medicine in improving patients' symptoms and quality of life.
