A Scoping Review of Prediction Models for Enteral Nutrition Intolerance in Intensive Care Unit Patients
Abstract:Objective: To conduct a scoping review of prediction models for enteral nutrition intolerance in intensive care unit (ICU) patients, providing references for clinical research. Methods: Based on the framework of scoping reviews proposed by Arksey et al., we searched PubMed, Web of Science Core Collection, Embase, CNKI, Wanfang Database, and VIP Chinese Science and Technology Journals Database for studies related to prediction models for enteral nutrition intolerance in ICU patients, with the search period from the establishment of the databases to February 1, 2024. Two researchers independently screened the literature and extracted the data, and the quality of the included models was assessed using the Clinical Prediction Model Risk of Bias and Applicability Assessment Tool. Results: A total of 11 papers were included, comprising 11 risk prediction models. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the models ranged from 0.700 to 0.906. The bias evaluation results showed that the included models had a high risk of bias. Conclusion: There is a need to develop risk prediction models with more localized characteristics in China, and to conduct multi-center, large-sample studies as much as possible. The models should be validated using various methods to promote the application of scientific, effective, and convenient assessment tools in clinical practice.
