Effect of Early Quantitative Functional Exercise on Postoperative Pain, Hip Joint Function, and Activities of Daily Living in Patients with Intertrochanteric Femoral Fracture After Total Hip Arthroplasty
Abstract:Objective: To analyze the effect of early quantitative functional exercise on postoperative pain, hip joint function, and activities of daily living in patients with intertrochanteric femoral fracture after total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods: A total of 114 patients with intertrochanteric femoral fracture treated at The First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from October 2022 to October 2023 were selected as the study subjects, all of whom underwent THA. According to different nursing methods, they were divided into a quantitative exercise group (n=57) and a conventional group (n=57). The conventional group received routine nursing care, while the quantitative exercise group received early quantitative functional exercise in addition to routine care. The postoperative pain condition [Visual Analog Scale (VAS)], hip joint function [Harris score], negative emotions [Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HAMA)], activities of daily living [Barthel Index (BI)], quality of life [World Health Organization Quality of Life-BREF (WHOQOL-BREF)], and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results: After intervention, the VAS and HAMA scores of the quantitative exercise group were lower than those of the conventional group, while the Harris score, BI score, and WHOQOL-BREF score were higher than those of the conventional group (P<0.05). During the postoperative intervention period, the complication rate of the quantitative exercise group was 3.51%, which was lower than that of the conventional group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Early quantitative functional exercise after THA in patients with intertrochanteric femoral fracture can alleviate postoperative pain, reduce the occurrence of postoperative complications, improve negative emotions, and enhance hip joint function, activities of daily living, and quality of life.
