Current Situation and Development Trends of Orthopedic Specialty Nursing Clinics in China
Abstract：With the development of medical level and nursing technology, the scope of nurses' work has been expanding. Establishing specialty nursing clinics is a way to broaden the scope of nursing. Due to limited medical resources, accelerated recovery, and shortened average length of hospital stay, most orthopedic patients are discharged after their condition stabilizes post-surgery. How to provide high-quality, effective, and continuous specialty nursing for these patients is the best solution by establishing orthopedic specialty nursing clinics. Since 2008, orthopedic specialty nursing clinics have gradually been established in China, mostly in the south, while almost none have been developed in the north. The establishment of orthopedic specialty nursing clinics not only effectively improves the quality of non-hospitalized patients, promotes and maintains health, but also allows orthopedic specialty nurses to apply their professional knowledge, reduces the workload of doctors, improves patient satisfaction, and enhances the hospital's image. However, the names of orthopedic specialty nursing clinics are not unified, the service contents are diversified, the seniority of the visiting nurses and the visiting times vary, and the facilities and equipment are arranged independently, with no unified standards. The development of orthopedic specialty nursing clinics in China is slow and still in its initial stage. Relevant management regulations and service items are not yet complete. How to develop more specialized is worth thinking and discussing.
