Application Effect of the After-Action Review Teaching Model in Training Critical Care Nurses in Continuous Blood Purification Technology
Abstract:Objective: To explore the application effect of the after-action review teaching model in training critical care nurses in continuous blood purification technology. Methods: A total of 70 nursing staff from the department of critical care medicine were selected as the study subjects and randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group using stratified random grouping, with 35 people in each group. The experimental group received theoretical and operational training on continuous blood purification treatment using the after-action review teaching model, while the control group received training using the traditional teaching model. The theoretical knowledge scores, operational skills scores, and critical thinking abilities [Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory-Clinical Version (CTDI-CV)] of the two groups were compared. Results: After the teaching, the theoretical knowledge scores and operational skills scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (P < 0.05). The total score of CTDI-CV in the experimental group using the after-action review teaching method was higher than that of the control group (P < 0.05), with statistically significant differences. However, there were no statistically significant differences in the dimensions of seeking truth, open-mindedness, analytical ability, systematic ability, confidence in critical thinking, and curiosity (P > 0.05). Conclusion: The after-action review perspective in nursing education helps improve the level of blood purification operation and theory among critical care nurses, enhances their critical thinking abilities, and thus improves clinical nursing quality.
