Effects of Bright White Light Therapy on Cancer-Related Fatigue, Sleep Quality, and Depressive Symptoms in Patients After Thyroid Cancer Surgery
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of bright white light therapy on cancer-related fatigue, sleep quality, and depressive symptoms in patients after thyroid cancer surgery. Methods: A total of 196 patients who had undergone thyroid cancer surgery were randomly divided into a control group and an intervention group, with 98 patients in each group. The control group received routine follow-up and nursing care, while the intervention group received bright white light therapy in addition to routine care. The differences in sleep quality, depressive state, and cancer-related fatigue were compared between the two groups before and 4 weeks after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, the levels of cancer-related fatigue, sleep quality, and depression scores in the intervention group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Bright white light therapy can improve sleep quality, cancer-related fatigue, and depressive symptoms in patients after thyroid cancer surgery.
