Feasibility Comparison of Two Syringes for 'Bolus' Injection in Renal Dynamic Imaging
Abstract:Objective: To explore the feasibility of using two types of syringes for 'bolus' injection in difficult venous puncture during renal dynamic imaging. Methods: Thirty male SD rats were selected and underwent two renal dynamic imaging sessions. The first session used a modified syringe [original scalp needle (tube length 26.5 cm) shortened to 1 cm and connected to a regular syringe] for 'bolus' injection, designated as the experimental group; after an interval of 3-5 days, the second session used a regular syringe for 'bolus' injection, designated as the control group. The success rate of 'bolus' injection between the two groups was compared, and SPSS 17.0 software was used for t-test analysis of the imaging results, evaluating various renal function parameters. Results: The success rate of 'bolus' injection in the experimental group was 96.66%, while that in the control group was 86.66%. The experimental group had a higher success rate of 'bolus' injection. The glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of the experimental group was (3.62±0.26) mL/min, and that of the control group was (3.48±0.28) mL/min. The peak values in the perfusion phase were (49.24±5.20)/s and (53.45±5.30)/s, respectively, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). The half-width of the abdominal aortic peak was (5.56±0.36)/s in the experimental group and (5.62±0.42)/s in the control group, with no statistically significant difference (P>0.05). Conclusion: Using a modified syringe instead of a regular syringe for renal GFR imaging is feasible for difficult venous puncture. Using the modified scalp needle syringe for bolus injection may offer advantages in improving the detection effect of renal dynamic imaging.
