Numerical Simulation and Optimization of Flue Gas Flow Field Before the Low-Temperature Economizer in a 630 MW Coal-Fired Boiler
Abstract:To solve the problem of ash accumulation in the low-temperature economizer area of a 630 MW coal-fired boiler, a numerical simulation of the flue gas flow field was conducted using the CFD method. The k-ε turbulence model and the Discrete Particle Model (DPM) were selected for the simulation. The results show that there is a large area of low-velocity flue gas at the bottom of the flue gas inlet section of the low-temperature economizer, with a relatively high root mean square deviation of flue gas velocity distribution. The flow distribution in the flue is uneven, with the flue gas flow in the outer flue being 28% higher than that in the inner flue. Based on the simulation results, the setting of the guide plates in the flue was adjusted, eliminating the low-velocity area at the inlet section, and the relative root mean square deviation of the flue gas velocity was reduced. The flow deviation between adjacent flues was ±1.47%. After implementing this plan, the ash accumulation phenomenon in the low-temperature economizer area was significantly improved, with the highest measured ash accumulation not exceeding 300 mm.
