Analysis of Factors Affecting the Decomposition of Natural Gas Hydrates Based on the LBM Method
Abstract:A lattice Boltzmann multiphase model was used to simulate the gas-liquid flow during the decomposition process of natural gas hydrates. The Kim-Bishnoi model was applied to achieve kinetic decomposition, and the VOP solid phase surface renewal method was combined to describe the evolution of the phase interface during decomposition. The effects of different porous medium structures, hydrate occurrence modes, boundary temperatures, and pressure reduction amplitudes on the decomposition of natural gas hydrates were analyzed. The results show that a lower porosity of the porous medium is less favorable for hydrate decomposition. When the porosity is below 50%, this effect becomes more pronounced. Therefore, a combined method of pressure reduction and thermal assistance should be considered for exploitation. Hydrates in a wrapped state are easier to decompose. Higher boundary temperatures are more conducive to hydrate decomposition. The pressure reduction amplitude has a smaller effect on the decomposition of a single natural gas hydrate.
