Application of Improved Urinary Bag in Specimen Removal during Thoracoscopic Lobectomy
Abstract:Objective: To explore the value of using an improved urinary bag in specimen removal during thoracoscopic lobectomy. Methods: Fifty patients with lung cancer who underwent thoracoscopic lobectomy at Xinfeng County People's Hospital from July to December 2023 were selected as the study subjects. All patients received both conventional methods and the improved urinary bag method for specimen collection. The time required for complete specimen loading, the number of times the collection bag fell off during specimen transfer, the incidence of specimen contamination, the success rate of one-time specimen collection, and patient satisfaction with the collection method were compared between the two methods. Results: The time required for complete specimen loading was shorter with the improved urinary bag method than with the conventional method (t=8.744, P<0.001). The number of times the collection bag fell off was fewer with the improved urinary bag method than with the conventional method (t=18.061, P<0.001). There were 0 cases of specimen contamination with the improved urinary bag method, while there were 4 cases with the conventional method (χ2=4.167, P<0.05). The success rate of one-time specimen collection was higher with the improved urinary bag method than with the conventional method (χ2=4.000, P<0.05). Patient satisfaction with the collection method was higher after using the improved urinary bag method than with the conventional method (χ2=5.005, P<0.05). Conclusion: Applying the improved urinary bag in specimen removal during thoracoscopic lobectomy can shorten the time required for specimen loading, reduce the number of times the collection bag falls off, decrease the rate of specimen contamination, improve the success rate of one-time specimen collection, and increase patient satisfaction with the collection method.
