Efficacy of Terbutaline Combined with Doxofylline in Patients with Acute Exacerbation of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Analysis of Patient Prognosis
Abstract:Objective: To analyze the effect of terbutaline combined with doxofylline on blood gas indicators in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), in order to provide a reference for clinical practice. Methods: A total of 80 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine of Dengfeng Songzheng Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital in Henan Province from February 2020 to February 2021 were selected as the study subjects. According to different treatment methods, they were divided into a control group and an observation group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with doxofylline, while the observation group received additional terbutaline treatment on top of the control group's treatment. The treatment duration for both groups was 2 months. The therapeutic effects, clinical symptom scores, C-reactive protein (CRP), blood gas indicators [partial pressure of carbon dioxide in arterial blood (PaCO2), arterial oxygen saturation (SaO2), partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO2)], and European Five-Dimensional Health Scale (EQ-5D) scores after 6 months of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results: The clinical therapeutic effect of the observation group was better than that of the control group, with a statistically significant difference (χ2=4.114, P<0.05). After treatment, the scores for wheezing, chest tightness, cough, sputum production, and sputum volume, as well as CRP levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, with statistically significant differences (t=32.888, 24.558, 21.503, 24.749, 10.865, 7.911, P<0.001). After treatment, the PaCO2 level in the observation group was lower than that in the control group, while SaO2 and PaO2 levels were higher, with statistically significant differences (t=6.337, 11.459, 13.739, P<0.001). After 6 months, the activity ability, self-care, anxiety and depression, and daily activity scores of the observation group were higher than those of the control group, with statistically significant differences (t=4.802, 2.401, 2.502, 3.570, P<0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of acute exacerbation of COPD with doxofylline combined with terbutaline can further improve clinical efficacy, reduce inflammatory factors in the body, improve clinical symptoms and blood gas indicators, and enhance the quality of life of patients.
