Enhancement Effect of Thrips Attractant on the Control of Cowpea Thrips in Field Trials
Abstract:To investigate the synergistic enhancement effect of thrips attractant and the chemical insecticide chlormequat-chlorpyrifos, and to determine the optimal application dosage, thereby improving the control level of cowpea thrips, this study conducted a field trial for thrips control in cowpea fields in Zhijiang City in 2024. The results showed that applying 20 mL/667m2 of chlormequat-chlorpyrifos combined with thrips attractant significantly improved the control efficacy against thrips after 7 days and 14 days. Among them, adding 30 mL/667m2 of thrips attractant achieved a control efficacy of 78.11% after 14 days, which was significantly higher than the treatment using only the pesticide (59.88%), but comparable to the efficacy of adding 60 mL/667m2 of thrips attractant after 14 days (76.64%). It is recommended in production to add 30 mL/667m2 of thrips attractant when applying 20 mL/667m2 of chlormequat-chlorpyrifos to control cowpea thrips.
