Acute Toxicity Evaluation of 20% Fenoxycarb Water Dispersible Granules on Three Aquatic Organisms
Abstract:To evaluate the safety of the herbicide fenoxycarb to aquatic organisms, the static method from the chemical pesticide safety evaluation method was used to determine the acute toxicity of 20% fenoxycarb water dispersible granules on three aquatic organisms: zebrafish, Daphnia magna, and Chlorella near-oculata. The results showed that, based on measured concentrations, the 96 h-LC50 of 20% fenoxycarb water dispersible granules for zebrafish was 120 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence interval of 108–133 mg a.i./L; the 48 h-EC50 for Daphnia magna was 36.0 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence interval of 28.2–46.1 mg a.i./L; the 72 h-ErC50 for Chlorella near-oculata was 2.72 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence interval of 2.29–3.29 mg a.i./L, and the 72 h-EyC50 was 0.72 mg a.i./L, with a 95% confidence interval of 0.31–1.11 mg a.i./L. According to the 'Guidelines for Environmental Safety Evaluation of Chemical Pesticides', it was determined that 20% fenoxycarb water dispersible granules were low toxicity to zebrafish and Daphnia magna, and moderate toxicity to Chlorella near-oculata.
