Field Efficacy Test Brief on the Control of Rice Bakanae Disease by Benzovindiflupyr + Fludioxonil
Abstract:In response to the declining control efficacy of rice bakanae disease caused by resistance to imazalil, a randomized block experiment was conducted in early direct-seeded rice fields in Zhejiang Province in 2024. Seven treatments were set up, including benzovindiflupyr + fludioxonil, metalaxyl + triadimenol, and the control fungicide imazalil, to evaluate the efficacy of the compound fungicide benzovindiflupyr + fludioxonil against rice bakanae disease and its safety to rice growth. The results showed that none of the fungicide treatments had adverse effects on rice growth. Among them, the treatment with 62.5% benzovindiflupyr + fludioxonil at 4 mL/kg seed showed the best efficacy, with control rates of 96.7% and 97.9% 15 and 25 days after sowing, respectively, which was significantly better than the imazalil treatment. Moreover, there was no significant difference between this treatment and the 62.5% benzovindiflupyr + fludioxonil at 3 mL/kg seed or 4.23% metalaxyl + triadimenol at 1.5 mL/kg seed treatment. In conclusion, 62.5% benzovindiflupyr + fludioxonil at 3-4 mL/kg seed coating can effectively control bakanae disease, with high and long-lasting efficacy. It is recommended for use in production as an alternative to imazalil and should be rotated with metalaxyl + triadimenol to delay the development of resistance.
