Occurrence of Weeds in Rice Fields in Huanren County and Control Strategies
Abstract:To clarify the species and density characteristics of weeds in rice fields in Huanren County and guide farmers in effective control, this study conducted two surveys from June to August 2024 in 27 plots across three typical townships using a five-point sampling method. The weed species and dominant species were analyzed using density, frequency, abundance, and the three-layer, three-level visual estimation method. The results showed that there are 11 genera belonging to 6 families of weeds in rice fields in Huanren County, including 4 species of grass family, 3 species of sedge family, and 1 species each from the Alismataceae, Hydrocharitaceae, Pontederiaceae, and Commelinaceae families. Wild water plantain and barnyard grass were the key dominant species, while Pontederia cordata was rarely seen in the early stage but became a dominant species in the later stage. Based on the occurrence of weeds and their causes, comprehensive control strategies such as seed screening, autumn plowing, biological, and chemical weed control were proposed, providing a scientific basis for farmers to manage weeds in rice fields.
