Trial on Water-saving and Drought-resistant Direct-seeded Rice Varieties and Sowing Rates in the Northern Hubei Region
Abstract:This study aims to investigate the effects of different water-saving and drought-resistant direct-seeded rice varieties and sowing rates on rice growth and yield. Based on the conventional sowing rate in the local area, the sowing rate was gradually reduced, and the experiment was conducted under the same environmental conditions. The experimental results showed that the optimal suitable sowing rate for water-saving and drought-resistant direct-seeded rice in the northern Hubei region is 1.5-2.0 kg/667m2. High yield must ensure a basic seedling density of 45,000-55,000/667m2 and should not exceed 60,000/667m2. At the optimal sowing rate, the variety Jieyou 804 showed significantly better adaptability than Hayou 73, making it more suitable for cultivation in the northern Hubei region. The study also explored some physiological and ecological mechanisms of water-saving and drought-resistant direct-seeded rice, providing a scientific basis for reasonable planting density in this region.
