Toxicity Assessment and Safety Evaluation of Six Insecticides against Coridromius chinensis
Abstract:To screen for insecticides that are safe for Coridromius chinensis, the toxicity of six insecticides against fifth-instar nymphs and adults of Coridromius chinensis was determined using the film method, and their safety was evaluated. The results showed that beta-cyfluthrin had the highest toxicity to both fifth-instar nymphs and adults of Coridromius chinensis at 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h, with LC50 values of 1.766 mg/L and 0.177 mg/L, 0.202 mg/L and 0.102 mg/L, 0.170 mg/L and 0.051 mg/L, respectively. Bacillus thuringiensis had the lowest toxicity to adults, with LC50 values of 51.876 mg/L, 39.012 mg/L, and 3.522 mg/L. Bacillus thuringiensis had the lowest toxicity to fifth-instar nymphs of Coridromius chinensis at 24 h and 48 h, with LC50 values of 53.819 mg/L and 39.012 mg/L, while matrine had the lowest toxicity at 72 h, with an LC50 value of 20.546 mg/L. Matrine was relatively safer for Coridromius chinensis, with the highest safety factor. The safety factors for fifth-instar nymphs and adults at 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h were 26.932–35.982 and 14.292–19.094, 15.720–21.002 and 2.367–3.162, 12.303–16.437 and 0.875–1.169, respectively. Beta-cyfluthrin had the lowest safety factors at 24 h, 48 h, and 72 h, with values of 0.059–0.088 and 0.006–0.009, 0.007–0.010 and 0.003–0.005, 0.006–0.009 and 0.002–0.003, respectively. When controlling field pests, the toxicity and safety factor of insecticides should be considered comprehensively. Bacillus thuringiensis or matrine is a better choice, and beta-cyfluthrin should be avoided.
