Study on the Effects of Biodegradable Mulch Film Coverage on Weeds and Rice Yield in Paddy Fields
Abstract:To understand the effects of biodegradable mulch film coverage on weeds and crop yield in paddy fields, a comparative study was conducted in Jiantang and Yushan areas of Jinhua in 2023, comparing biodegradable mulch film treatment with conventional chemical weed control practices used by local farmers. The results showed that 71 days after mechanical transplanting in Jiantang experimental area, the plant control efficacy and fresh weight control efficacy of biodegradable mulch film treatment were 94.8% and 95.5%, respectively, which were higher than those of the conventional chemical weed control practice by local farmers, but there was no significant difference between the two. In the Yushan experimental area, 84 days after mechanical transplanting, the plant control efficacy and fresh weight control efficacy of biodegradable mulch film treatment were 98.3% and 99.0%, respectively, which were significantly better than those of the conventional chemical weed control practice. In terms of yield, the rice grain yield of biodegradable mulch film treatment in both areas was significantly better than that of the conventional chemical weed control practice. The blank control had the lowest yield and was significantly lower than both the biodegradable mulch film treatment and the conventional chemical weed control practice. Overall, biodegradable mulch film coverage has good weed control effects in paddy fields and significant yield-increasing effects on rice, which is worth promoting on a large scale.
