Design and Experimental Method of a Composting Device for Vegetable Trimmings
Abstract:To achieve the in-situ resource utilization of vegetable trimmings in agricultural parks, this study designs a small to medium-sized mobile aerobic composting device. It addresses the issue that large-scale aerobic composting equipment has high investment and operation and maintenance costs, making it unsuitable for promotion in small and medium-sized breeding farms, agricultural cooperatives, and other agricultural parks. The design scheme of the composting device is analyzed, and the integration of forced ventilation system, temperature monitoring system, and leachate recirculation system is completed on the main structure of the fermentation chamber. The connection form of the fan, air supply pipe, and aeration pipe is determined, as well as the layout of the temperature sensor and recirculation pipe. The operating method of the device is explained. The experimental results show that the device can maintain the optimal fermentation temperature, keeping the pile at above 50°C for 15 consecutive days. The moisture content remains within the suitable range of 55% to 62% throughout the entire fermentation process, meeting the requirements for resource recovery and harmless treatment of vegetable trimmings.
