Spatial and Temporal Distribution of Precipitation and Its Impact on Agriculture in Hohhot City
Abstract:To study the characteristics of precipitation in Hohhot City over the years and its impact on local agriculture, this study used monthly precipitation data from 2004 to 2023 in the city and analyzed the distribution characteristics of precipitation over the past 20 years using mathematical statistics. The results show that the annual precipitation in Hohhot City has been decreasing at a rate of -5.26 mm per 10 years. Precipitation within the year is mainly concentrated from May to September, with the most concentrated rainfall occurring in summer. Precipitation can not only cause poor drainage in farmland and a decline in soil quality, but also lead to flood disasters, thus seriously affecting agricultural production. Therefore, relevant departments in Hohhot City must strengthen flood prevention and disaster reduction publicity, improve the level of fine-scale weather forecasting and early warning for precipitation, and improve farmland infrastructure to better cope with these issues.
