The Impact of Climate Change on Garlic Production in Yongnian District, Handan City and the Innovation of Planting Technology
Abstract:Against the backdrop of global climate warming, various extreme weather events have occurred frequently, significantly affecting agricultural production. Therefore, combining the biological characteristics of garlic, this study selected three meteorological factors—monthly average temperature, precipitation, and sunshine duration—from 1991 to 2023 in Yongnian District, Handan City. It analyzed the impact of climate change on garlic production using univariate linear regression and moving average methods. The results showed that the local temperature, precipitation, and sunshine duration in Yongnian District are relatively suitable for garlic cultivation. The process of climate change has led to a reduction in low-temperature cold damage, frequent drought and flood disasters, and an increased probability of pests and diseases, which have both positive and negative effects on garlic production. Through the innovation of planting technology, the harm caused by adverse climatic conditions to garlic cultivation can be reduced, and it can be widely applied locally.
