Impact of Hail Weather on Facility Vegetables in Shuicheng District and Countermeasures for Prevention
Abstract:Using monthly hail days data from 1991 to 2023 in Shuicheng District and disaster data provided by the agricultural department from 2015 to 2022, this study analyzed the characteristics of hail weather in Shuicheng District using the method of simple linear regression and moving average. The results showed that the average annual hail days in Shuicheng District from 1991 to 2023 were 2 days, showing an overall decreasing trend. Except for December to January of each year when no hail weather occurred, hail weather could occur at other times, and it showed obvious seasonal changes, with the highest frequency in spring and relatively similar frequencies in other seasons. Hail weather in Shuicheng District generally began to increase after 12:00, especially between 15:00 and 18:00, which had the highest frequency, while the frequency was relatively lower between 12:00-14:00 and 10:00. Three countermeasures for hail prevention were proposed to minimize the impact of hail weather on facility vegetables, ensuring the production of high-quality and high-yield facility vegetables and improving farmers' income levels.
