Factors Affecting the Standing Reflex in Sows and Improvement Measures
Abstract:This study addresses the issue of low standing reflex ratio (50%~60%) in sows during estrus in a large-scale pig farm. It analyzes factors such as estrus management, sow breed (genetics), and environmental conditions, and proposes comprehensive improvement measures. The results show that by advancing the age of first estrus (using equine chorionic gonadotropin induction), introducing Danish pig genes, and controlling ammonia concentration in the pig house to below 5 μL/L, the standing reflex ratio of sows was significantly increased to 80%. This study provides practical basis for optimizing sow reproductive management in large-scale pig farms.
