Study on the Effect of Compound Chinese Veterinary Medicine on Egg Production Performance and Egg Quality of Hy-Line Brown Shell Laying Hens
Abstract:This experiment fed 42-week-old Hy-Line Brown shell laying hens with a compound Chinese veterinary medicine made from herbs such as Salvia miltiorrhiza, Cuscuta chinensis, Angelica sinensis, Ligusticum chuanxiong, Cistanche deserticola, Paeonia lactiflora, and Syzygium aromaticum to study its effects on egg production performance and egg quality. A total of 320 healthy 42-week-old Hy-Line Brown shell laying hens were randomly divided into 4 groups, with 2 replicates per group and 40 hens per replicate. The control group (Group A) was fed a basal diet, while Groups B, C, and D were fed experimental diets with 1.0%, 1.5%, and 2.0% (mass fraction) of the compound Chinese veterinary medicine added to the basal diet, respectively. The preliminary period lasted 10 days, and the main trial lasted 56 days. The results showed that adding the compound Chinese veterinary medicine to the hen's diet could significantly improve the laying rate and average egg weight, with the laying rate increasing by 2.11% to 3.45%, the number of unqualified eggs significantly reduced, the feed-to-egg ratio decreased by 3.83% to 6.38%, and the yolk color was enhanced by 4.82% to 7.17% compared to the control group.
