Effect of PMSG on the Reproductive Performance of Gilt in Early Group Entry during Batch Production
Abstract:The breeding age of gilts has a significant impact on their reproductive performance. To optimize the early group entry process of gilts and provide a reference for pig farms to reduce entry costs, improve utilization rate, and enhance reproductive performance, this study applied pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG) during the pre- and post-synchronization stages of estrus in gilts entering the herd early in batch production. The results showed that the comprehensive reproductive performance of gilts in Group D, which were treated with the 'PMSG + altrenogest + PMSG' protocol, was significantly higher than that of gilts in other groups. The results indicate that the 'PMSG + altrenogest + PMSG' protocol yields the best reproductive performance for gilts entering the herd early in batch production.
