Application of Propofol in Abdominal Surgery of Sows
Abstract:This experiment was conducted on live sows of three breeds: Landrace, Yorkshire, and Duroc, performing three abdominal surgeries: embryo flushing, embryo transfer, and输卵管 insemination. Propofol was administered intravenously throughout to induce and maintain anesthesia, and body temperature, heart rate, and postoperative recovery time were observed and recorded. The results showed that the induction time and dose of propofol were (139±34)s and (47±13)mL, respectively, while the maintenance time and dose were (48±15)min and (103±53)mL, respectively. During the surgery, the vital signs of the pigs remained stable, with heart rates before, during, and after surgery being (89±15) beats/min, (84±17) beats/min, and (86±17) beats/min, respectively, and body temperatures being (38.1±0.8)℃, (38.0±0.9)℃, and (38.6±0.8)℃, respectively. The postoperative recovery time was (18±7) min. The results indicate that propofol provides rapid and safe anesthesia without affecting the health of the pigs, making it a safe and convenient anesthetic regimen. It can provide a scientific basis for studying the anesthetic effects of propofol in abdominal surgery of sows and for implementing such surgeries under pig farm production conditions.
