Analysis of the Behavior of a Mother Milu Deer Nursing Non-Related Young
Abstract:To study the behavior of a mother milu deer nursing non-related young, this experiment selected two mother milu deer (one mother that lost its calf but nursed another calf; the other mother whose calf survived normally) as research subjects. Their daily rhythmic behaviors and feeding behaviors were recorded for 8 consecutive days. The results showed that there was no significant difference in rhythmic behavior scores between the mother that lost its calf and the normal mother (U=30.5, Z=-1.581, P=0.878), and there was also no significant difference in feeding behavior scores (U=15.5, Z=-1.741, P=0.083). This indicates that nursing non-related young does not affect the normal behavior of the mother milu deer.
