Research Progress on the Prevention and Control of Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome
Abstract:Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), caused by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV), is an immunosuppressive disease characterized primarily by reproductive disorders in sows and respiratory symptoms in piglets. Due to the high mutation rate and high recombination rate of PRRSV, the infection rate of PRRS in pig populations remains high, and it is widely prevalent and continuously evolving, causing huge economic losses to the global pig farming industry. This article reviews the molecular biological characteristics of PRRSV, the domestic and international epidemiological situations, research progress on prevention and control measures, as well as purification technologies, aiming to provide references for the study of PRRS epidemiological patterns, prevention, and purification work.
