Relationship between Meteorological Elements of the 24 Solar Terms and Lychee Yield in Guangzhou
Abstract:To provide meteorological basis for scientific lychee cultivation, this study used daily temperature and precipitation data from five national meteorological stations in Guangzhou from 1960 to 2022. Methods such as linear trend estimation, moving average, and correlation analysis were employed to investigate the variation characteristics of meteorological elements during the 24 solar terms and their relationship with lychee yield. The results showed that: 1) the average, maximum, and minimum temperatures during the 24 solar terms showed a unimodal pattern, with the highest temperature occurring at Xiaoshu and the lowest at Xiaohan. 2) Precipitation was mainly concentrated between Guyu and Chushu. The precipitation during Qiu Fen showed a significant decreasing trend, with a climate tendency rate of -0.26 mm·(10a)-1, which was the largest among all solar terms. The precipitation during Mangzhong increased at the fastest rate, at mm·(10a)-1. 3) Temperatures during Jingzhe, Lixia, Mangzhong, Chushu, and Dahan showed significant positive correlations with lychee yield, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.45 to 0.59; precipitation during Chushu showed a negative correlation with lychee yield, with correlation coefficients ranging from -0.44 to -0.52. Temperature changes during the bud stage or initial flowering period of early-maturing lychee varieties, and during the flower bud differentiation period and winter shoot emergence period of medium- and late-maturing lychee varieties, affected lychee yield.
