The Connotation, Research Progress, and Challenges of Geobiology
Abstract：Geobiology is an interdisciplinary first-level discipline formed by the integration of Earth sciences and life sciences (Xie Shucheng et al., 2006, 2011; Yin Hongfu et al., 2009), focusing on the mutual interactions between life and the Earth's environment and their co-evolutionary history and processes. Since the National Natural Science Foundation of China officially introduced this discipline into Chinese geoscience research in 2005 (Liu Yu, 2005), geobiology has developed rapidly in China, achieving many exciting new discoveries and insights.
