Abstract:On the basis of many years of production practice, this paper summarizes the main types of unnoticeable hazards caused by waterlogging, winter and spring drought, cold, insect pest, grass, overdose of pesticides and chemical fertilizers in early autumn barley production in Yunnan Province. Accordingly, a number of strategies are proposed for preventing and controlling the unnoticeable hazards to early autumn barley production in Yunnan. They include breeding high-yielding and highly resistant varieties by scientific research departments; implementing effective irrigation and drainage and strengthening cultivation management; improving plant resistance; combining physical measures, agricultural measures, and chemical control measures to prevent and control the hazards caused by diseases, pests, weeds, birds, and rodent pests. In addition, efforts should be put on strengthening the cooperation of different departments and on training of farmers. All in all, multiple measures need to be taken to minimize the loss due to unnoticeable natural hazards.
